Holgate are nearing completion of the Nenagh to Limerick project which is due for completion in December.
Holgate were also appointed as designers for the acoustic noise assessment along the route and, subsequently, secured the installation contract for16000 sq/m of high performance noise barriers. The contract required a design and build type situation with a performance incentive for achieving cost engineering solutions. One notable feature of the installation was the use of steel Terrawing foundations which were driven 2.5m into the embankment slopes (saving the client the cost of expensive concrete piles and the widening of verges). This is the first time this unique solution was used for a major scheme outside of the Nordic countries where it is widely used for noise barrier, signage posts and steel frame buildings. Following the success of this installation method, Holgate intend to collaborate with Terrawing for future contracts specifically in the UK.
